A Conversation with
Giorgia Voorthuis
In celebration of our exclusive Christmas table with Giorgia, from Giorgia's Kitchen, we sat down with the renowned caterer and tastemaker to explore her festive inspirations, culinary expertise, and creative process.
read below our conversation with Giorgia.
1. How do you bring the festive spirit into both your catering and your table settings for Christmas?
I always like to add a personal touch. Even small details can make a table feel festive. For example, think of beautiful placemats and napkins. Personally, I love incorporating greenery around the holidays—it’s simple yet classy. And honestly, sometimes less is more.
2. What’s your go-to meal or table setup during the holidays?
A big roasting pan filled with colorful veggies, potatoes, and a beautifully roasted chicken—it’s always a winner. It’s quick, easy, and perfect for sharing. And of course, a Christmas dessert centerpiece is a must! A meringue wreath is my favorite: you can decorate it together at the table with fresh whipped cream and red fruits. It’s festive and fun.
3. How do you make a Christmas dinner special for your loved ones? Any small but impactful touches you recommend?
For Christmas, I love to go all out with the table. I always set it beautifully and leave a personal note on each plate—wishing my guests something special for the new year and sharing what I admire about them. It’s such a heartfelt touch that everyone appreciates.
4. How do you feel the Blank Space x Giorgia’s Kitchen collection captures the magic of Christmas, and how would you use it to create a memorable holiday table?
At Giorgia’s Kitchen, the focus is on vibrant, heartwarming meals that bring people together. It’s all about fresh, seasonal ingredients, rich flavors, and that cozy, “just like home” feeling. My dishes don’t just feed the stomach; they tell a story and make everyone feel connected.
Blank Space, on the other hand, is all about the setting—the visual magic that makes every gathering feel extra special. It’s where tables become art, with thoughtful details like elegant tableware, textured linens, and natural accents. Together, they create an atmosphere that’s both personal and unforgettable.
How it could come together at a Christmas dinner:
Imagine Giorgia’s colorful, comforting dishes served on a beautifully styled Blank Space table. Picture a roasted centerpiece—like golden chicken or a flavorful vegetarian tart—surrounded by roasted vegetables, fresh salads, and plenty of shared plates. All of this is served on a table adorned with soft, natural decor, creating a warm and inviting setting.
5. If you could invite any three people (living or dead) to your Christmas dinner, who would they be and what would you cook?
Mimi Thorisson: I have her cookbook and adore her style, her tables, and her incredible cooking. She’d be a perfect fit.
J.J. Martin, founder of DoubleJ: I love this brand! Their pieces are stunning, with such beautiful patterns. I splurged on a set a couple of years ago, and it’s still one of my favorite investments.
The Pasta Queen: I’m so impressed by how she’s built such a strong brand on social media in a short time. Her Italian recipes are mouthwatering and inspiring.
For this mix of incredible guests, I’d create a table filled with a variety of dishes—fish, meat, and vegetarian options. Food connects people, so the more variety, the better!
